BOARD MEMBERS

Meet Our Leadership

The Foundation is guided by a board of directors consisting of Business Professionals and those who also enjoy the outdoors and hunting.

The board will offer direction and guidance in decisions made to ensure the vision is properly applied to deserving individuals and organizations matching the foundations beliefs and desire to help guide and mentor.

Rhonda Curtis

Founder/Mother

Rhonda Curtis is Brett’s mama and a proud native of Arkansas. While she built a long and successful career in banking and the insurance industry, nothing has ever compared to the joy, pride, and purpose she found in being Brett’s mom. Raising a son who was kind, humble, hardworking, and truly special is the greatest accomplishment of her life. The joy Brett brought to their family is impossible to put into words — and so is the depth of the loss they carry in his absence.

The Brett Curtis Memorial Foundation was created to ensure that Brett’s love of the outdoors, hunting, and sharing experiences with others continues. Through this foundation, Rhonda hopes to see young people and families experience the same joy, connection, and appreciation for nature that Brett so naturally shared with those around him.

Raised in the country herself, Rhonda’s connection to nature began early — though her path looked a little different. While others hunted, she rescued and nurtured wildlife, raising everything from baby rabbits and squirrels to birds and even an opossum and crow that become part of the family for years. Her lifelong love for animals and the outdoors reflects the same heart that shaped Brett’s own deep respect for nature.

For Rhonda, this foundation is more than an organization — it is a promise. A promise to continue the hunt. To keep Brett’s name spoken. And to make sure his legacy lives on in every young person who steps into the woods and creates a memory that lasts a life-time.

Greg Sims

Board Member

Greg Sims is a lifelong outdoorsman, avid bow hunter, and passionate turkey hunter who spends much of his time hunting and managing his farm in southeast Kansas. Through years of hands-on land management, Greg has transformed the property into a thriving habitat for mature whitetail deer and wild turkeys, reflecting his deep respect for conservation, habitat stewardship, and the long-term health of the land.

Greg spent more than a decade hunting alongside his brother-in-law and best friend, Brett Curtis. Together, they shared countless hunts and unforgettable experiences in the outdoors. Brett’s unexpected passing in April of 2021 left a lasting impact on Greg and his family, and serving on the Board of the Brett Curtis Memorial Foundation is a meaningful way for Greg to help honor Brett’s life, passion, and legacy. Greg is committed to ensuring the Foundation continues Brett’s love for the outdoors and his genuine desire to share those experiences with others.

Outside of hunting and conservation, Greg is the President of Sims Insurance, Inc., where he has worked in the insurance industry for 34 years. He manages a diverse book of business that spans across the United States and brings decades of leadership, business experience, and strategic perspective to the Foundation.

Greg believes strongly in creating opportunities for youth and new hunters to experience the outdoors, learn respect for wildlife and land, and build the same lifelong appreciation that has shaped his own life. He is proud to support the Foundation’s mission and help carry Brett’s passion forward for future generations.

Matt Plumlee

Board Member

Matt Plumlee was born and raised in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Here, he built his life, married his wife, Whitney, and welcomed their daughter, Paityn into their lives. Growing up surrounded by the outdoors and a close knit community shaped his values and sense of responsibility, which led him to take over his family’s business, Plumlee Tire, in 2020, continuing a legacy of hard work, pride, and service.

Some of his earliest memories are of hunting with his dad, experiences that sparked a lifelong passion for hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. Matt is drawn to the patience, skill, and respect hunting requires and the deeper appreciation it builds for the outdoors. One of his greatest joys today is sharing that passion, especially with his daughter, as he passes along the knowledge, lessons and excitement that hunting has provided. Because of this, Matt is so grateful to have the chance to serve on a memorial board like Continuing The Hunt. Carrying on Brett’s legacy through helping others experience and learn about the outdoors is an opportunity that Matt is both incredibly honored by and excited to be a part of.
